Why look for a Quizlet alternative for languages
Quizlet is a great general study tool: millions of sets for any subject, games and tests. Language learners usually look for something else for two reasons.
- Limits and ads on the free plan. Flashcards are free, but study modes like Learn and Test are limited and come with ads unless you pay for Quizlet Plus.
- Pairs instead of language. A set of term and definition pairs helps you memorise, but it does not show how words behave in sentences, and it does not plan reviews for the long run.
What NewLexi does differently
- An easy interface. Everything comes together in one plan for the day: open the app and you see what to review, what to learn and what to read. No deck options or card templates to set up.
- Word flashcards. Flip, audio and grading from “Forgot” to “Easy”. Cards are generated automatically on your request or saved from the translator, stories, text, photos and files.
- Spaced repetition. Every word comes back with the SM-2 algorithm just before you would forget it, and four mastery levels show how confidently you know it.
- Learning in context. AI writes stories and dialogues at your level with the words you are learning. Tap any word for a translation.
- Many ways to remember. Flashcards, matching, building sentences from tiles, a writing trainer with AI correction, chat, stories and dialogues with exercises: each word is practised in different ways.
- Game mode. A streak, the “Mountain trail” to a weekly trophy and a matching mini-game between cards turn reviews into a habit.
- iPhone Lock Screen and widgets. Cards with words from your daily plan right on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island: answer “I know” or “I don't know” without unlocking your phone. Widgets with new words, the word of the day and your streak on the Lock Screen and Home Screen.
- Grammar from A1 to C2. Lessons and exercises in the same plan, next to your vocabulary.
- No ads. Core features are free.
