Move your Quizlet flashcards to NewLexi

Step 1. Export from Quizlet

Export is only available on quizlet.com, not in the Quizlet mobile app. Open the website on a computer and sign in.

1. Open the set you want to move.
2. Click the three-dot button next to the set title and choose Export.
3. Under “Between term and definition” choose Tab, and under “Between rows” choose New line.
4. Click Copy text.

Step 2. Add the words to NewLexi

The quickest route is pasting text. Get the copied list onto your iPhone, for example through Notes with iCloud or Apple's Universal Clipboard if your computer is a Mac.

1. On the iPhone, copy the whole list.
2. In NewLexi: “Add words” → “Paste text”.
3. Paste the list. Each line is a word and its translation, separated by a tab.
4. Review the words on the “Check the words” screen and tap “Add”.

For a big set it is easier to save the text as a .txt or .csv file, send it to your phone and choose “Add words” → “Anki file or spreadsheet”. The app shows the columns, and you assign them the “Word” and “Translation” roles.

Good to know

• In Quizlet the “term” and “definition” can be in either order. If word and translation come in the wrong way round, the import screen has “Swap word and translation”.
• Only text is transferred. Quizlet images and audio are not exported, but words in NewLexi have their own audio.
• Quizlet study progress is not carried over: the words arrive as new and join the NewLexi spaced repetition schedule.
• Words that are already in your deck are highlighted as duplicates before anything is added.
