Cards on the Lock Screen

You can review words from your daily plan without unlocking your phone: the card stays on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. It’s a quick check, so here a word’s level changes more carefully than in training.

Cards appear when you open the app and there are words in your daily plan. The card shows the word and a «Show translation» button. Then you see the translation and two buttons: «Don't know» and «I know». Answer, and the next word comes up.

Which words you get

The same ones as in your daily plan. In settings you can choose which part of the plan to show:

Words at level four don’t go to the Lock Screen: they’re already learned and only come back for a check in the app. If you want to see them too, turn on «Learned words».

«I know» only raises a word from level one to two

On the Lock Screen you answer on the go, and that kind of answer says less about a word than an answer in training. So «I know» moves a word from level one to level two, and that’s it.

Your answer still counts: the word is marked as reviewed today, leaves the daily plan and comes back on schedule.

«Don't know» lowers a word one step per day

If you didn’t remember a word, it goes down one level. A second «Don't know» and any after it on the same day don’t change the level again: one bad morning won’t drop a word from level four to level one.

How to set up or turn off

  1. Open Settings → «Lock Screen cards».
  2. In «Which words to show», choose the whole plan, review only or learning only.
  3. To stop the cards from appearing, turn off «Show cards». A card that’s already showing disappears right away.

You can also just swipe the card off the Lock Screen. It won’t come back today, but it will tomorrow. The answers you’ve already given are saved.

If cards don’t appear

Check that your daily plan has words of the selected type and that Live Activities are turned on for NewLexi in iOS settings: iPhone Settings → NewLexi → Live Activities.
