You are shown a sentence in your native language and have to build it in the one you're learning. The words are below, in a bank: tap a word or drag it into the answer line. Tapping a word in the answer puts it back.
Where the sentences come from
- From a set of words: the phrases are built around words in your deck. The exercise replaces a card - the word has to be used, not just recognised.
- From a grammar topic: every example requires one construction, the past tense for instance.
- From a story or a dialogue: the sentences are taken straight from the text you have just read.
The first two are chosen when you create the training; the third opens with the “Compose sentences” button under the material.
How an answer is judged
- Built correctly - “Excellent!”, on to the next one.
- One word out of place - “Almost right”, you can fix it and check again.
- Built wrong - the correct answer is shown.
If the phrase won't come together, a “Hint” appears - it shows the correct sentence in full. The button does not come right away: only on a sentence you have already got wrong, and only in a training from the daily plan or on a grammar topic. In the exercises after stories and dialogues there is none.
What goes into statistics
The exercise does not move the word up the mastery levels: words rise through the levels only from the learning and review cards. Here the word gets consolidated - you have to use it, not recognise it. A finished training closes the task in the daily plan, and a training on a grammar topic has its own progress: the training archive shows which topics are done and which are in progress.
